Born and lived at Sneinton, Nottingham. Son of Edwin and Fanny Mallett, of 147, Colwick Road, Sneinton. He was a professional soldier and previously had served in India. He went to France 4th November 1914 and was awarded the D.C.M. London Gazette 9th July 1917: “For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He has consistently performed good and valuable service when under fire, and has at all time set a splendid example”. He was killed in Action 31st July 1917, aged 28, in the attack near Bellewaarde Lake, Belgium.
