Born at Lived at Huthwaite, Nottinghamshire. Son of Walter and Hannah Hill Lee, of The School House, Blackwell Road, Huthwaite. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting 8th September 1914 at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He went to France 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action, 4th August 1915, aged 19, whilst serving in the line at Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.
