Born at Ripley, Derbyshire. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Allen, of 107, Pentrick Road, Ripley. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Ripley on 22nd February 1916. He went to France on 14th August 1918 and died of wounds on 21st September 1918 at No. 3. Casualty Clearing Station Beaulencourt, France
