Born at Sheffield, Yorkshire and lived at 25, Bangor Street, Nottingham. Son of William and Tryphena, of 11, Westville Street, Nottingham. He was a porter at Nottingham Victoria Railway Station prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 10th October 1916, during the attack on the German positions at the Schwaben Redoubt, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
Buried: Mill Road Cemetery, Thiepval, France. Plot 14. Row D. Grave 9.
