Battalion : 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Hognaston, Derbyshire and lived at Darley Dale, Derbyshire. Son of John and Mary Houghton, of Upper Hackney, Darley Dale. He was a fur blower in a fur mill prior to enlisting at Matlock, Derbyshire. He went to France 25th February 1915 and was killed in action, 7th June 1915, whilst serving in the line near Kemmel, Belgium.
