Battalion: 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Leabrooks, Derbyshire. Son of Frank and Alice Holmes (formerly Gibson) of Kirkhamgate, Yorkshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Derby. He went to France on 28th July 1915 and was killed in action, 21st November 1915, aged 20, by a German Sniper at Sanctuary Wood, Belgium.
Buried: Menin Road South Military Cemetery, Belgium. Plot 3. Row C. Grave 13.
