Born and lived at Nottingham. Son of William Henry and Rebecca Proctor Holmes, of 4, Percy Place, Fisher Gate, Nottingham. He was a telephone linesman prior to enlisting 7th October 1915 at Nottingham. He went to France 6th March 1916 and died of gunshot wounds, 4th July 1916, aged 18, to his right shoulder at No. 33, Casualty Clearing Station, Bethune, France.
