Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Cold Newton, Leicestershire. Son of William and Mary Holmes, of Cold Newton. He enlisted at Nottingham and went to France on 4th November 1914 and was killed in action, on 11th March 1915, aged 24, during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
Buried: Cabaret-Rouge British Cemetery, Souchez, France. Plot 16. Row B. Grave 7.
