Private Edmund Bruce Hollingworth

Battalion : 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Eckington, Derbyshire. Son of William and Mary Ellen Hollingworth of Northwood House, Eckington. He was a joiner prior to enlisting at Eckington. Went to France 18th March 1915 and suffered shrapnel wounds to his back and was evacuated to England on Hospital Ship Brighton. He was treated at Maidstone VAD Hospital, from 10th May 1915 to the 12th June 1915. Went to Gallipoli 25th October 1915 before returning to France 26th June 1916, where he suffered gunshot wounds to his chest, leg and right thigh, 27th September 1916. He was transferred to England on Hospital Ship St. Patrick, 29th September 1916 and died of wounds, 26th October 1916, aged 20, at Fort Pitt Hospital Chatham, Kent.
