Battalion : 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Clay Cross. Derbyshire and lived at 1 Tunnel Row, Clay Cross. Son of John and Maria Holland, of 11, High Street, Clay Cross. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He went to France 25th October 1915 and was killed in action, 3rd September 1916, aged 36, during the attack on the German positions at Beaumont Hamel, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
