Born in 1895, Son of George and Margaret Holland, husband of Annie Holland, of 36 Stoneyford Lane, Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a miner at new Hucknall Colliery, Nottinghamshire prior to enlisting 24th June 1915 at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He died 26th April 1916 whilst attacking 25 Northumberland Road, Dublin during the Irish Rebellion.
