Born in Nottingham and lived at Sneinton, Nottingham. Son of Richard and Eliza Hoffen, of 7, Bleasby Street, Sneinton. He was an Errand Boy prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France 28th February 1915 and died of wounds at a Casualty Clearing Station 13th May 1917.
