Lieutenant Arthur Dawson Hodgson

Battalion : 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born in Richmond. Yorkshire 19th January 1893. Was educated at Silcoates School, Wakefield, Yorkshire and Lincoln College, Oxford where he gained a modern history degree. On leaving, he became a law student. He enlisted in the 10th Battalion Lincolnshire Regiment 23rd September 1914 and received a commission as Second Lieutenant in the 15th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 24th March 1915. He was promoted Lieutenant the following August, served in France from February 1916 and was killed in action near Trones Wood 20th July 1916, aged 23, during the Battle of the Somme.
