Born in Nottingham and lived at 23 Arundel Street, Nottingham. Son of Peter Jonathan and Mary Elizabeth Higham, of 23, Arundel Street, Nottingham. He was educated at High Pavement Grammar School, Nottingham before moving to Bentham Grammar School and Ingleton Rectory, Yorkshire. He was a bank clerk at Lloyds Bank prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France on 6th March 1915 and was killed in action, on 11th March 1915 during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
