Lance Corporal Albert Hewitt

Born at Whittington Moor, Derbyshire and lived at Old Whittington. Son of Jacob and Sarah Hewitt, of Newbold, Debryshire. Husband of Minnie Hewitt, of 2 New Bridge Terrace, Old Whittington. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was killed in action, 10th August 1916, whilst serving in the line near Bernafay Wood, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
