Lance Corporal Samuel Hetterley

Battalion : 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Stathern, Leicestershire and lived at Warsop, Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. Brother of Mrs. Nellie Abel, of 13, Victoria Street, Warsop. He was a Coal Miner at Shirebrook Colliery prior to enlisting 15th October 1914 at Mansfield. He went to France 4th September 1916 and was appointed Lance Corporal 7th November 1916. He suffered gunshot wounds to his right thigh 13th March 1917 and died of these wounds at No. 43 Casualty Clearing Station, Warlincourt, France on the same day aged 25.
