Husband of Sarah Henley. He enlisted at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and was awarded the M.M. (Military Medal) London Gazette 26th April 1917, “For conspicuous gallantry at La Brayelle Farm, near Essarts, on 4th March 1917 when he did splendid work in holding his post against a strong enemy bombing attack, until eventually wounded in the head, dying the next day”. He died of wounds, 5th March 1917, at No. 20 Casualty Clearing Station, Warlincourt, France.
