Born at Sneinton, Nottingham. Son of William Henry And Rose Hemm, of 48, Crompton Street, Hallam Fields, Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He was a Moulder at Stanton Ironworks prior to enlisting 18th May 1914 at Ilkeston. He was appointed Lance Corporal 7th July 1916 and was killed in action, 20th July 1916, aged 21, by German shellfire whilst serving in the line near Bellacourt, France.
