Born at Swineford, County Mayo, Ireland. Husband of Mary Heaney, of 48, Austin Street, Bulwell, Nottinghamshire. Lived at 4 The Buildings Bulwell, Nottingham. He was blast furnace man and engine driver. He enlisted 28th August 1915 at Hucknall, claiming to be 38 years old. Originally posted to the Welbeck Rangers, he was transferred, first to the 19th Battalion, on 11th December 1915; to the 83rd Battalion Training Reserve on 1st September 1916; and to the 25th (Public Works) Battalion Durham Light Infantry on 14th February 1917. Was appointed Lance Corporal 23rd March 1917 and transferred to the Labour Corps 28th April 1917 Died of tuberculosis at Bagthorpe Isolation Hospital on 3rd November 1917. age 49.
