Private Arthur Haywood

Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Hemington, Leicestershire. Son of Sarah E. Haywood, of Peggs Farm, Hemington. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting, on 6th October 1906 at Derby. He won a championship and lightweight medal in India, in 1911, for boxing. He went to France on 4th November 1914 and died of wounds, on 11th March 1915 received during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
