British 1914 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn at Nottingham. Son of William and Sarah Hayes, of 8, The Gripps Cottages, Cotgrave, Nottinghamshire. Enlisted at Nottingham and went to France 4th November 1914 with the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was wounded in May 1915 and was killed in action, 16th September 1916, age 30, during the attack near Guillemont, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
