Born at lived at Wirksworth, Derbyshire. Son of Thomas and Hannah Harrison of Godfrey Hole, near Wirksworth. He was a gardener prior to enlisting on 22nd July 1915 at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He went to France on 4th March 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
