Captain Lionel Joseph Briggs Harrison

Born at Gibraltar, 27th July 1895. Son of Joseph Thornton Harrison and Harriet Ellen Harrison, of 37, Hartington Street, Derby. He was educated at Bedford Grammar School and was studying at London University to become a solicitor prior to gaining a commission as Second Lieutenant 5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 1st October 1913. He went to France in February 1915, was promoted to Lieutenant 5th May 1916, and was posted to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 4th September 1916. He was wounded at Essars, France in March 1917 and invalided to England. He was attached to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 27th September 1917 and returned to France. Killed in action, 27th March 1918, aged 22, whilst serving in the trenches near Morcourt, France.

Buried: Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres, France. Plot 3, Row C, Grave 4.
