Born at Normanton, Derbyshire and lived at 123 Eaton Terrace, Eaton Street, Mapperley, Nottingham. Husband of Sarah Hannah Hammond, of “Willow Wong”, Burton Joyce, Nottinghamshire. He was a joiner prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France 14th July 1915 and died of wounds, 11th July 1916, aged 35, during the Battle of the Somme.

Buried: Heilly Station Cemetery, Mericourt-Labbe, France. Plot 2. Row A. Grave 41.
