Born and lived at Bulwell, Nottinghamshire. Son of William and Elizabeth Hames, of 2, Anchor Terrace, Main Street, Bulwell. Husband of Mary Rebecca Hames, of 34 Minerva Street, Bulwell. He enlisted at Derby and died of wounds, 30th June 1917.

Buried: Dickebusch New Military Cemetery Extension, Belgium. Plot 2. Row A. Grave 10.
