Private Herbert Palmer Hallam

Battalion: 10th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Pilsely, Derbyshire. Son of John Henry and Lilian Hallam, of 4, Back Lane, Pilsley. He was a shop assistant prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He went to France on 18th March 1915 and was killed in action, on 7th July 1916, age 23, during the attack on the German positions at Quadrangle Support, near Contalmaison, France, during the Battle of the Somme.

Commemorated : Thiepval Memorial, France. Pier and Face 10 C 10 D and 11 A.
