Born at Gotham, Nottinghamshire and lived at 441 Berridge Road, Nottingham. Son of Cornelius and Alice Hale, of 77, Birkin Avenue, Hyson Green, Nottingham. He was a marine store dealer prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 26th September 1916, aged 22, during the attack at Wieltje, Belgium.
