British 15 Star, British War and Victory MedalSon of Joseph and Mary Jane Griffiths, of 46, Portland Road, Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. He enlisted in August 1914 and was posted to the 1st Battalion. He was wounded at Aubers Ridge, France, 9th May 1915, then went to Gallipoli to join the 9th Battalion, where he contracted dysentery. On recovery, he was transferred to the 17th Battalion on the Somme and was killed when he accidentally kicked a dud shell on 5th October 1916.
