Born at Brightside, Sheffield, Yorkshire. Son of Sampson and Emma Griffin of 21 Clay Street, Attercliffe, Sheffield, Yorkshire. Husband of Kate H. Griffin, of 12, Bubwith Road, Brightside. He was a Coal Miner prior to enlisting at Sheffield. He was killed in action, 8th March 1918, age 25, whilst Battalion was at Mazingarbe having baths and training.

Buried: Philosophe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe, France. Plot 3. Row B. Grave 40.
