Born at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. Son of Samuel and Hannah Grainger, of 11, Sylvester Street, Hucknall. Was a coal miner and enlisted at Hucknall. He was killed in action whilst serving on the canal bank near Ypres, 19th June 1917, age 30.
