Born and lived at Belper, Derbyshire. Son of John B. and Matilda Gough, of “Holmleigh,” Windmill Lane, Belper. He was a Hosiery Warehouse Assistant prior to enlisting in February 1915 at Derby. He served in Dublin during the Irish Rebellion. He died of wounds, 4th April 1917, aged 21, received after being struck by an unexploding shell.
