Born at lived at Dronfield, Derbyshire. Son of Ernest and Annie Goldthorpe, of Dronfield. He was a brass turner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He died of wounds, on 5th July 1916, aged 18, from wounds, received in the attack at Fricourt, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
