Born at Nottingham and lived at 13, Auckland Street, Nottingham. Son of William and Elizabeth Gill, of 32, Auckland Street, Radford, Nottingham. He was a bobbin carrier prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 25th February 1917, aged 24, whilst in the line near St. Vaast en Chausse, France.
