Born and lived at Nottingham. Son of Henry and Eliza Gill of Old Basford, Nottingham. Husband of Rose Gill, of 2, Towlsons Place, David’s Lane, Old Basford. He was a bricklayers labourer prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France 12th August 1915 and was killed in action, 29th March 1918, aged 36, whilst serving in the trenches near Voormezeele, Belgium.
Buried: Voormezeele Enclosures No.1 and No.2, Belgium. Plot 1. Row N. Grave 36.
