Born at Terrington, Yorkshire and lived at 54, Neale Street, Clowne, Derbyshire. He was a market gardener prior to enlisting at Newark, Nottinghamshire. He went to France on 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
