Born at Chinley, Derbyshire. Husband of Helena May Ford, of Chapel Milton, Derbyshire. He was a stone mason prior to enlisting at Chapel-en-le-Frith, Derbyshire. He was killed in action, 7th October 1918, whilst serving in the line at Tenbrielen, Belgium.

Buried: Bedford House Cemetery, Belgium. Enclosure No.2 Plot 1. Row B. Grave 1.
