Sergeant Patrick Fitzgerald

Born at Blackburn, Lancashire. Husband of Harriett Fitzgerald, of 63, Graham Street, Derby. He was a Labourer prior to enlisting on 15th April 1903 at Manchester. He served in Hong Kong from 6th March 1904 to the 6th December 1904, Strait Settlements from 7th December 1904 to 29th January 1906 and England from 30th January 1906 to 3rd November 1914.
He went to France on 4th November 1914 and was appointed Lance Corporal on 2nd August 1915. He was promoted to Corporal on 7th February 1916, Lance Sergeant on 1st June 1916 and Sergeant on 5th July 1916. He was killed in action, on 9th August 1916, age 37, whilst serving in the trenches in the Quarry sector, near Vermelles, France.
