Private Leonard Charles Figgis
Army Number: 72492 (formerly 30205 Royal Flying Corps)
Battalion: 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Richmond, Surrey. Son of Mr H. J. and Emily Louisa Figgis, of 37, Crown Terrace, Richmond. He was a shop assistant prior to enlisting 4th January 1916 at South Farnborough, Hampshire into the Royal Flying Corps (Kites Balloon Section). He went to France 29th June 1916 and was transferred to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment on the 24th July 1917. He suffered shrapnel wounds to his back 28th April 1918 and was treated at No. 13 Casualty Clearing Station, Arneke, France, then being transferred to the 8th Stationary Hospital at Wimereux, France, 29th April 1918. He died of wounds 10th July 1918, aged 22.
