British 1914 Star, British War and Victory MedalBorn at Wilford, Nottingham and lived at The Meadows, Nottingham. Son of Reuben and Eva Fell, of 29, Briar Street, The Meadows, Nottingham. Husband of Rosina Fell. He enlisted at Nottingham and served in India with the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment from 1905 to 1910. He was demobbed in 1912 and became a postman in Sheffield, Yorkshire. In July 1914 he was called up as a reservist into the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and went to France 11th September 1914. In October 1914 he was wounded and was transferred to England. On recovery, he was transferred to the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment and served in Gallipoli, Turkey from July 1915. He was killed in action, 9th August 1915, in the attack at Ismail Oglu Tepe, (Chocolate Hill), Gallipoli.
