Private George William Falconer

Battalion: 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Netherthorpe, Yorkshire and lived at 26 Warwick Street, Birdholme, Derbyshire. Son of Joseph and Florence Falconer, of 11, Shaws Row, Brampton, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a fire lad at Grassmore Colliery, Derbyshire, prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He served in Gallipoli during 1915 with the 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He also served with the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, before being posted to the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He died of wounds, 17th September 1916, aged 19.
