Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of John and Eliza Dykes of Chapel Street, Carlton, Nottingham.; Husband of Sarah Frances Dykes, of 2, Rose Yard, Bellargate, Nottingham. He was a foundry labourer prior to enlisting on 27th August 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France on 4th January 1914 and was killed in action, on 11th March 1915, aged 36, during the Battle of Neuve Chapelle, France.
