Battalion : 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Runcorn, Cheshire and lived at 6 Priory Terrace Runcorn. Son of Arthur and Martha Dutton, of Halton, Runcorn. He was a leather worker prior to enlisting into the 2/7th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, 19th September 1916 at Chester. He went to France 28th February 1917 and was transferred to England suffering from trench feet, 180th October 1917. He was treated at the 1st Scottish General Hospital, Aberdeen, from 22nd October 1917 to the 28th November 1917. He returned to France 24th March 1918 and was transferred to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 1st April 1918. He was killed in action, 26th April 1918, aged 20, whilst on a working party, when the battalion was at Halifax Camp near Dranoutre, Belgium.
