Sergeant Walter Dunn

Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Nottingham. Son of Jemima Dunn, of Castleton Street, Meadows, Nottingham. Husband of Harriet M. Dunn, of 25, Abbott Street, Blue Bell Hill, Nottingham. He was a Coal Miner prior to enlisting 24th March 1911. He was promoted Corporal 9th September 1914 and went to France 11th November 1914. He was promoted Sergeant 20th March 1915
He suffered shrapnel wounds to his left thigh 9th August 1915 and was treated at 187 Field Ambulance before being transferred to No. 3 Canadian General Hospital at Camieres, France, where he died of a gas infection on his wounds 17th August 1915, age 37.
