Born 1895 in Blackwell, Derbyshire and lived at Newton, Derbyshire. Son of Isaac and Ada Dickens of Main Street, Newton. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He died of wounds, on 1st November 1917, at Sunderland Military Hospital.
