Born in Nottingham and lived at 1, Beaconsfield Terrace, Harlaxton Street, Nottingham. Son of Mr Frederick William and Kathleen Dexter, of 21, Harley Street, Lenton, Nottingham. He was a box maker prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France on 28th June 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 20, in the attack on the German positions at Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
