British War and Victory MedalHe was born at Wilsford, Lincolnshire and lived at Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. Son of Henry and Eliza Helen, of Wilsford. He worked as a gas stoker before enlisting at Sutton-in-Ashfield in October 1914. He went to France in January 1916 and was killed in action in the attack on the German positions near the Ypres/Comines Canal, 3rd March 1916, age 40.
