Son of Mrs Emma Daykin of Nottingham; Husband of Mary Ann Daykin, of 38 Manvers Street, Netherfield, Nottingham.He was a Iron worker prior to enlisting 12 June 1915 at Nottingham. He went to France 6th March 1916was appointed Lance Corporal 18th April, 1916. He was killed in action whist in the line near `Givenchy, France 29th June 1916, age 32.

Buried: Le Touret Military Cemetery, Richebourg-lAvoue, France. Plot 3, Row H, Grave 15.

He is also commemorated on the victoria road war memorial, Netherfield.
