Born at Duffield, Derbyshire and lived at Derby. Son of Lewis Day, of 330, Osmaston Road, Derby. Husband of Florence Day, of 38, Granville Street, Loughborough, Leicestershire. He was Painter prior to enlisting on 17th June 1915 at Derby. He went to France on 18th March 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, during the attack on Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
