Born at Osmaston, Derbyshire. Husband of Mary Davies. He enlisted at Chesterfield, Derbyshire and went to France on 4th January 1915. He was killed in action, on 17th June 1917, during the German shelling of the Battalion headquarters at Ypres, Belgium.
