Son of George and Mary Darwin, of Mill House, Clayworth, Retford, Nottinghamshire. He was a dairy farm worker prior to enlisting at Retford. He went to France on 2nd March 1915 and was killed in action, 3rd September 1917, aged 22, during the German shelling of the British line near Cambrin, France.
